The Evaporative Refrigeration Group of AEFYT celebrates 10 years.

Control y Ventilación, S.L., as a manufacturer of HUMIBAT, one of the best products on the market based on the technology of Evaporative Refrigeration ,  echoes this, for the great and important work done, Great News, thus giving the most Sincere congratulations and the best of the congratulations to AEFYT in general and to the group in particular.

Among the group’s objectives are:

To ensure that those responsible for environmental health inform rigorously about all the installations at risk that may harbor Legionella bacteria, and

The diffusion of the environmental advantages of this technology.

The Evaporative Refrigeration Group of AEFYT, Association of Cold Companies and their Technologies, reaches this year the tenth anniversary of its creation. Formed by 95% of manufacturers of evaporative cooling equipment in Spain, the group was created with the main objective of informing society rigorously about the incidence of Legionella bacteria in these equipment.

The main achievement of the group over these years has been to get the regional administrations of Environmental Health have left, for the most part, to refer to cooling towers and capacitor equipment as equipment that causes the spread of the bacteria to pass to consider and report on the rest of the risk facilities-public fountains, irrigation systems, spas, swimming pools, vaporizers, hot water systems, etc.-and, consequently, to take more comprehensive and realistic measures to deal with this problem. For example, in the XVIII Congress of the Spanish Society of Preventive Medicine, Public Health and Hygiene held in 2015 it was found that the vast majority of cases of Legionella in hospitals come from hot water systems.

Even so, statements from public officials who are not well informed and very harmful to the evaporative cooling industry still appear on occasions, which is why the AEFYT Group intends to continue with this training and information work towards public administrations and the media.

Another fundamental line of work during these years has been to work on the awareness, on the part of the owners of the evaporative cooling equipment, of the need to perform a professional maintenance of the facilities based on what the manufacturers recommend and requires the Law through RD 865/2003, of July 4, which establishes the hygienic-sanitary criteria for the prevention and control of legionellosis. For this, it collaborates with different entities in the sense of avoiding professional intrusion as the best way to guarantee the safety and proper functioning of the equipment.

The Evaporative Refrigeration Group participates, moreover, actively in the drafting of recommendations for the elaboration of regulations that affect this technology, such as the revision of the UNE 2030 norm for the prevention of Legionella, and in the publication of useful technical texts for the industry. A fundamental line of work, in this sense, is to fight against the restrictive legislation practiced by some Autonomous Communities and that is not justified as long as the legislation contemplates the anti-Legionella maintenance and treatment measures contemplated in the State Law.

The future challenge for the Evaporative Refrigeration Group is to deepen the dissemination of the advantages for society and the industry of this technology. One of the main ones are the high energy efficiency ratios that it presents and that make it essential for broad industrial sectors, such as food, textiles or the metal industry, which use the cold in their processes.

“The Evaporative Refrigeration Group of AEFYT was born with very specific objectives regarding the legionella problem and we can say that, ten years later, the progress has been palpable. Even so, we can not lower our guard and our work should continue to influence the fight against the restrictive legislation practiced by some Autonomous Communities and that is not justified in the current state of the art of this technology, “said Manuel Lamúa, manager of AEFYT.
