The Group of Manufacturers of Evaporative Refrigeration of the Spanish Association of Cold and its Technologies (Aefyt) calls the attention of all owners of equipment susceptible to having the legionella bacterium to take extreme precautions since sanitary hot water can be a focus of diseases like legionellosis. It is about influencing the maintenance measures of the equipment located in the spaces that house and care for vulnerable people given the situation of health crisis caused by the Covid-19.
The group also draws attention to the pipes of buildings that may have had standing water, especially given the proximity of the summer season, whose higher temperature encourages the proliferation of this type of bacteria.
It is emphasized in this article that for the fourth year no relationship has been established between legionella outbreaks and evaporative cooling facilities.
